Pregnancy Yoga

Since becoming a mother I have experienced first hand the power of yoga during the pregnancy and birthing process.

I was surprised by the strength that I felt in my body while growing my babies, and yoga practice really anchored and amplified this.

I offer pregnancy yoga for Mums-to-be with postures and breathing that are designed to enable you to relax and unwind as well as strengthen and tone, specifically tailored to the trimester that you are currently going through. The element of water is an incredibly important symbol in pregnancy, as it is a time that requires the body to be fluid without resisting or struggling, carrying you downstream on your journey with ease.

The class is designed to create a space where you can slow down and truly connect to yourself, your body and your baby. I guide each class with ease, intention and the highest regard for you as a mother. Yoga is an incredible preparation for labour in encouraging the baby into the optimal position for the birth; certain poses help this in opening up the hips and getting the body into a more primal space. Yoga also helps purify the body like water does, cleansing out elements that have accumulated internally and need to be filtered out.

The golden thread of breath is invaluable throughout pregnancy and is carried through to the birth, so our classes integrate a deep connection with breathwork. During pregnancy there is a reduced lung capacity, making it even more important to learn deep diaphragmatic breathing techniques. I am passionate about the power of breath in maintaining a state of calm connection to body and baby.

Whether you are an experienced yogi or have never set foot on a mat, these classes are the perfect preparation for the labour and motherhood. My classes are also designed to support women through infertility, miscarriage and infant loss.

“To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and overwhelmingly inhabited. Soul and spirit are stretched – along with body – making pregnancy a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings.”

Post-natal Yoga

Birthing is the most open, energetically and physically, that our bodies will ever be. Returning back to yourself physically and emotionally after the birthing experience can be extremely overwhelming. My post-natal yoga meets you exactly where you are, taking into consideration your birthing story and also allowing space for your new baby who we can welcome into the classes too. I can come to your home if preferred, or meet online. My philosophy incorporates a focus on breath, moving slowly, upper body release, ayurvedic approaches to healing

“Sometimes when you pick up your child, you can feel the map of your own bones beneath your hands, or smell the scent of your skin in the nape of their neck. This is the most extraordinary thing about motherhood – finding a piece of yourself separate and apart from that all the same, you could not live without.”

I created STUDIO DON to make embodied movement accessible whenever you need it. It's a gentle online space where you can explore trauma-informed yoga practices inspired by the elements, helping you reconnect with your body through movement, breath and mindful awareness.
